Starting out as an homage to "Gainsborough’s Blue Boy,” a print of which was in every grandmother’s home during my childhood, I began my pointillist version, and realized that the face was becoming that of the obsessive Sheldon Cooper of the “Big BangTheory.” So I went with that, and surrounded him with obsessive references to the color blue in various languages and chemical formulas.
